The
Department of Integrated Science and Technology offers the Bachelor of
Science and the Bachelor of Arts degrees for a major in geography.
The core
requirements provide students with theoretical and practical instruction
in geography and related areas which leads to a choice of a concentration
for advanced study. A highlight of the requirements is a capstone experience
of independent research, honors thesis, internship
or an international experience that is relevant to the chosen concentration
and under the direct supervision of a faculty advisor.
The major
in geography may be enhanced by supporting studies (or a minor) in related
areas such as biology, computer science, economics, a foreign language,
geology, international business, integrated science and technology and
the social sciences.
The
core of the geography curriculum consists of 14 credits. In addition to
the core, each student selects a concentration which most closely corresponds
to his or her career objectives. The core requirements and concentration
options are listed below.
